The program is designed around several core ideas. Karate can be a very complex art, I tried to make this program simple and progressive. Each rank follows the same theme with drills, and the techniques that require a high level of co-ordination and timing are reserved for the advanced ranks. Beginners start with a white belt (10th kyu) and progress up the ranks to brown belt (1st kyu), then prepare for black belt rank (dan ranks). This is a program that focuses and developing solid fundamental techniques that can be applied in real scenarios against a resisting opponent. When learning traditional Karate I often struggled with executing techniques against a very determined attack. This led me to modifying the art to find success. Each grade follows the same theme listed below.
1. Kitae (Body Conditioning):
2. Dachi & Ashi Waza: (Stance & footwork):
3. Uke-Waza: (Blocking Skills) Wa-Uke Variations:
4. Kihons, Atemi-Waza: Tsuki, Zuki, Uchi, Keri (Striking Skills):
5. Katame-Waza, Ne-Waza (Grappling & Ground Skills):
